India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.29%

Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Metals , Banking and Auto sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.29%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.19%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NSE: APSE ), which rose 2.89% or 39.20 points to trade at 1,394.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Jio Financial Services Ltd (NSE: JIOF ) added 2.85% or 8.35 points to end at 301.50 and Shriram Finance Ltd. (NSE: SHMF ) was up 2.09% or 13.85 points to 675.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NSE: ONGC ), which fell 2.90% or 7.28 points to trade at 244.10 at the close. Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NSE: PGRD ) declined 1.43% or 4.15 points to end at 286.10 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NSE: INBK ) was down 1.01% or 8.45 points to 831.45.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (BO: APSE ) which rose 2.72% to 1,391.10, Tata Steel Ltd (BO: TISC ) which was up 1.71% to settle at 155.05 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO: KTKM ) which gained 1.46% to close at 2,216.70.
The worst performers were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO: PGRD ) which was down 1.41% to 286.20 in late trade, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO: INBK ) which lost 1.12% to settle at 831.00 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO: MRTI ) which was down 0.69% to 12,615.00 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1636 to 729 and 50 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2548 rose and 1297 declined, while 133 ended unchanged.
The India VIX , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.72% to 13.52 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.62% or 55.00 to $3,340.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.55% or 1.75 to hit $66.76 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 2.67% or 1.88 to trade at $68.64 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.61% to 86.03, while EUR/INR fell 0.45% to 99.78.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.34% at 97.67.
