Japan stocks lower at close of trade; Nikkei 225 down 0.58%

Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp , Transport and Communication sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.58%.

The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Daikin Industries, Ltd. (TYO: 6367 ), which rose 4.60% or 775.00 points to trade at 17,605.00 at the close. Meanwhile, TOTO Ltd. (TYO: 5332 ) added 3.42% or 126.00 points to end at 3,808.00 and NH Foods Ltd (TYO: 2282 ) was up 3.20% or 160.00 points to 5,161.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Konami Corp. (TYO: 9766 ), which fell 6.86% or 1,555.00 points to trade at 21,115.00 at the close. Bandai Namco Holdings Inc (TYO: 7832 ) declined 5.14% or 260.00 points to end at 4,796.00 and Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. (TYO: 7012 ) was down 5.00% or 550.00 points to 10,460.00.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1993 to 1606 and 246 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 1.38% to 24.25.

Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.14% or 0.09 to $65.36 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.07% or 0.05 to hit $67.06 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.21% or 7.20 to trade at $3,342.60 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was up 0.27% to 143.82, while EUR/JPY rose 0.09% to 169.43.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 96.49.
