Canada stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite up 0.26%

Investing.com – Canada stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Clean Technology , Materials and REITs sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite rose 0.26%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Endeavour Silver Corp. (TSX: EDR ), which rose 9.06% or 0.60 points to trade at 7.22 at the close. Meanwhile, First Majestic Silver Corp. (TSX: AG ) added 5.21% or 0.57 points to end at 11.52 and Fortuna Mining Corp (TSX: FVI ) was up 5.02% or 0.43 points to 9.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ero Copper Corp (TSX: ERO ), which fell 9.42% or 2.03 points to trade at 19.51 at the close. Open Text Corp (TSX: OTEX ) declined 4.34% or 1.79 points to end at 39.50 and Energy Fuels Inc. (TSX: EFR ) was down 4.02% or 0.32 points to 7.65.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 473 to 417 and 92 ended unchanged.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 2.89% to 8.41 a new 6-months low.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.14% or 4.52 to $3,321.42 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.07% or 0.05 to hit $68.28 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.07% or 0.05 to trade at $70.10 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.26% to 0.73, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.18% to 0.62.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 97.22.
