Russia stocks higher at close of trade; MOEX Russia Index up 2.72%

Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Mining , Oil & Gas and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia Index gained 2.72%.

The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia Index were MMC NORILSK NICKEL PJSC (MCX: GMKN ), which rose 7.51% or 7.60 points to trade at 109.10 at the close. Meanwhile, AFK Sistema PJSC (MCX: AFKS ) added 6.46% or 0.95 points to end at 15.73 and PIK SHb PJSC (MCX: PIKK ) was up 5.56% or 34.30 points to 651.50 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were GDR ROS AGRO PLC ORD SHS (MCX: AGRODR ), which unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to trade at 1,083.80 at the close. Mobil’nye Telesistemy PJSC (MCX: MTSS ) added 0.39% or 0.75 points to end at 194.40 and VK Company Ltd (MCX: VKCO ) was up 0.68% or 2.20 points to 324.00.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 199 to 43 and 9 ended unchanged.

Shares in GDR ROS AGRO PLC ORD SHS (MCX: AGRODR ) unchanged to 52-week lows; unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to 1,083.80.

The Russian Volatility Index – RVI , which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia Index options, was down 7.63% to 35.25 a new 1-month high.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.35% or 11.80 to $3,352.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.34% or 1.60 to hit $66.85 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.03% or 0.02 to trade at $69.05 a barrel.

USD/RUB was unchanged 0.00% to 77.36, while EUR/RUB unchanged 0.00% to 91.13.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.28% at 97.81.
