Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Construction , Technology and Retail sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.37%, while the MDAX index fell 0.50%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.37%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Rheinmetall AG (ETR: RHMG ), which rose 2.17% or 40.00 points to trade at 1,880.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR: CBKG ) added 2.16% or 0.61 points to end at 28.91 and E.ON SE (ETR: EONGn ) was up 1.03% or 0.17 points to 16.15 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Zalando SE (ETR: ZALG ), which fell 5.28% or 1.51 points to trade at 27.10 at the close. Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR: SATG_p ) declined 4.72% or 10.40 points to end at 210.10 and Brenntag AG (ETR: BNRGn ) was down 2.72% or 1.54 points to 55.06.

The top performers on the MDAX were United Internet AG NA (ETR: UTDI ) which rose 4.37% to 25.78, RENK Group AG (ETR: R3NK ) which was up 4.33% to settle at 75.10 and flatexDEGIRO AG (ETR: FTKn ) which gained 4.07% to close at 26.60.

The worst performers were K+S AG (ETR: SDFGn ) which was down 4.78% to 14.95 in late trade, Delivery Hero AG (ETR: DHER ) which lost 2.90% to settle at 23.77 and Puma SE (ETR: PUMG ) which was down 2.85% to 22.14 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were United Internet AG NA (ETR: UTDI ) which rose 4.37% to 25.78, Hensoldt Ag (ETR: HAGG ) which was up 3.04% to settle at 105.00 and IONOS Group SE (ETR: IOSn ) which gained 1.36% to close at 41.00.

The worst performers were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR: SATG_p ) which was down 4.72% to 210.10 in late trade, Kontron AG (ETR: KTN ) which lost 4.09% to settle at 24.84 and Cancom SE O.N. (ETR: COKG ) which was down 2.37% to 26.75 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 363 to 253 and 25 ended unchanged.

Shares in E.ON SE (ETR: EONGn ) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 1.03% or 0.17 to 16.15. Shares in United Internet AG NA (ETR: UTDI ) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 4.37% or 1.08 to 25.78. Shares in flatexDEGIRO AG (ETR: FTKn ) rose to 3-years highs; rising 4.07% or 1.04 to 26.60. Shares in United Internet AG NA (ETR: UTDI ) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 4.37% or 1.08 to 25.78.

The DAX volatility index , which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 6.28% to 17.77.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.34% or 11.40 to $3,352.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.59% or 1.09 to hit $67.36 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.19% or 0.84 to trade at $69.52 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.18% to 1.17, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.32% to 0.87.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 97.76.
