Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Utilities , Healthcare and Industrials sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.50%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.57%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Edenred SA (EPA: EDEN ), which rose 4.98% or 1.30 points to trade at 27.38 at the close. Meanwhile, Societe Generale SA (EPA: SOGN ) added 3.75% or 1.65 points to end at 45.60 and Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA: EUFI ) was up 2.55% or 1.38 points to 55.48 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Credit Agricole SA (EPA: CAGR ), which fell 4.41% or 0.76 points to trade at 16.49 at the close. TotalEnergies SE (EPA: TTEF ) declined 2.27% or 1.19 points to end at 51.16 and Stellantis NV (EPA: STLAM ) was down 1.91% or 0.16 points to 8.15.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Viridien SA (EPA: VIRI ) which rose 12.75% to 52.29, Nexans SA (EPA: NEXS ) which was up 5.42% to settle at 96.20 and Edenred SA (EPA: EDEN ) which gained 4.98% to close at 27.38.

The worst performers were Solutions 30 SE (EPA: S30 ) which was down 11.81% to 1.48 in late trade, Vusiongroup SA (EPA: VU ) which lost 9.91% to settle at 176.40 and Aperam SA (AS: APAM ) which was down 6.99% to 25.54 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 322 to 171 and 77 ended unchanged.

Shares in Societe Generale SA (EPA: SOGN ) rose to 5-year highs; rising 3.75% or 1.65 to 45.60.

The CAC 40 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.44% or 14.55 to $3,319.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 3.16% or 1.91 to hit $58.51 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 3.14% or 1.99 to trade at $61.29 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.29% to 1.14, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.18% to 0.85.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 99.28.
